South Western Lifestyle Photography
There’s a rhythm to life in the West—one that can’t be staged or recreated. It’s found in the early light on a working ranch, in the dust of a rodeo arena, and in the quiet connection between horse and rider.
At Richard Field Levine Photography, our work as a Western lifestyle and ranch photographer is rooted in capturing these moments as they naturally unfold.
Traveling full time, we honor the traditions of the vaquero, cowboy, and cowgirl, documenting their distinctive way of life and the stories woven into each day. From ranch work to rodeo culture, every image reflects the rugged charm and vibrant heritage that define the Western experience.
This is a look behind the lens—into how we approach ranch photography, rodeo photography, and authentic Western storytelling, preserving moments that are lived, not staged.
Working in Real Environments
As a ranch photographer behind the scenes, we don’t create artificial settings—we step directly into real environments.
That means:
- Working on active ranches during daily routines
- Photographing brandings, livestock, and working hands
- Capturing rodeo events as they happen, in real time
There’s no pause button in these spaces. Life moves quickly, and our role is to observe, anticipate, and be ready.
Whether we’re photographing in New Mexico, Arizona, or California, each location brings its own light, landscape, and story. We adapt to the environment rather than trying to control it.
This approach allows us to create imagery that feels grounded, honest, and true to the Western way of life.
Our Portfolio & Focus
Our work as a Western lifestyle photographer is rooted in the environments and traditions that define life in the West. Over the years, our portfolio has grown to reflect the depth and diversity of these experiences, capturing both the everyday and the extraordinary.
We specialize in documenting:
- Farming – capturing the rhythm of the land, seasonal work, and the connection between people and agriculture
- Ranching – authentic moments from working ranch life, including livestock, branding, and daily operations
- Rodeo – the intensity, motion, and tradition of rodeo culture, from local arenas to PRCA events
- Vaquero Culture – honoring the heritage, style, and legacy of the vaquero way of life
- Portraits and Pets – natural, candid portraits of individuals, families, and the animals that are part of their story
Each of these areas allows us to tell a different part of the Western story—always with a focus on authenticity, connection, and timeless imagery.
